Why "Certified Organic?"
Health and nutrition are important to us. We want to offer the healthiest
produce possible to you and your family. That means farming and growing the crops we bring to your table without toxins, pesticides
and much more.
What does "USDA Certified Organic" mean?
It means making a real commitment to the process of farming. It takes several years to get
the soil and growing process just right to pass our state and national laws, giving you the healthiest produce options available.
USDA Certified Organic means meeting state and national standards for growing,
storage, processing, packaging and shipping that include:
- avoidance of synthetic chemical inputs (e.g. fertilizer, pesticides, antibiotics, food additives, etc) and genetically
modified organisms;
- use of farmland that has been free from chemicals for a number of years (often, three or more);
- keeping detailed written production and sales records (audit trail);
- maintaining strict physical separation of organic products from non-certified products;
- undergoing periodic on-site inspections.
